Classic case of Social Myopia - Our Cricket conundrum
I wanted to let the dust settle down when I start writing this piece as it is very important to get away from the frenzy and look at the big picture. Yes, I am talking about the cricket conundrum that initiated from a page 3 talk show. As usual we as a social unit use our best myopic judgement skills and focused on the person that said something in public rather than the system. He or she becomes the only dysfunctional character in our beautiful and moral social fabric. We also need to understand that the society is changing what was expected 20 years ago isnt the same today. If we keep Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Tendulkar, Dravid and many more as yardsticks on how our cricketers should behave we will always be dissatisfied. If someone was listening to what Hardik and Rahul were talking about there was enough for them to be blamed for their own actions but there was also enough evidence of the widespread epidemic.
